IRS Form 1095-C- An Overview

The IRS Form 1095-C, the Employer-Provided Health Insurance Offer and Coverage, is used by Applicable Large Employers (ALEs) to report the information on health coverage offered to the employees.

The employers having at least 50 full-time employees (including full-time equivalent employees) during the previous year are considered Applicable Large Employers for the current calendar year.

The IRS uses the information reported in Form 1095-C to determine:

  • Whether an ALE Member owes a payment under the employer shared responsibility provisions
    under section 4980H.
  • Whether the employee is eligible for a premium tax credit.
